everyone knows music soothes the savage poopchick. 

riley and wilbur take on the living room.

behind the counter at spike's, riley joins special colby and steve (he's a blurry guy), baristas extraordinare.  

relaxation time is OVER. time to rock and roll.

riley spent approximately 45 minutes kissing himself in the garbage can reflection. children are so wise, and have lots to teach us. (not sure what the lesson is here.) 

if the cat doesn't want to be your friend, you might as well play with the small glowing doe, lila's other pet. 

miags the cat is none to happy that riley has decided to follow her around everywhere. here he stalks her under the table.  

lila is very skilled at playing classical paper towel tube. 

after the big meal, it's good to relax while everyone else does the dishes. 

lynne and katrina show riley the ropes in the kitchen. we were like baking machines right up to the minute we hopped in a cab to go to lila's for thanksgiving dinner. 

riley and ktm clean the house in a blur. there is something so alluring about the vacuum cleaner! 

soon he'll be walking across the room but for now he has to content himself with wistful stares at his toy chest. 

he also enjoys kneeling tremendously. 

these days riley pulls himself up into a standing postion like it's his job. 

this morning riley discovered that he can indeed crawl into the shower. 

clearly some people are more worried about germs.

warm and sunny and it's almost december. what's a poopchick to do but play in the park? 

busses are so relaxing. 

today we went to a music class at the rec center. how cool is that.

riley shows asha and ari how to do a backbend, just like the eastern european gymnastics champ that he is. 

sometimes he looks like a gnome. 

someone is clearly going to be a voracious reader.

riley is just like a little bird. a little naked bird that crawled right over to the edge of the carpet and then had a sit down. 

i love yogurt. i hate yogurt. but then, ultimately, i love yogurt.

home again and riley is tuckered out. it's a lot of work carrying those cheeks around all day long. 

at the goat farm we learned how to make goat cheese, and also how to perch atop a pile of pumpkins. 

greta was very patient. thanks, greta. 

all those tubes are used to milk the goats. 200 gallons a day. whoa. 

today's visit to the goat farm was educational AND fun. 

after wrestling with some pears and rice cereal, katrina and riley are all laughs. 

we're still trying to figure out whether riley really enjoys his tub time. hard to know. 

myri decides that an after-dinner bath can be really relaxing. riley knew it all along! 

what is this strange green substance? i'm such a city poopchick.

the eating always starts out so cutely and then just ends in a big 'ole mess.

we're hoping that riley will always be this cheerful about sharing his toys. 

it's not easy to get seven babies to look in the same direction. 

on sunday all the babies from our childbirth class came by for a pizza party. what a bunch of poopchicks! 

riley would like to use all five of his teeth to chew on andrea's glasses.  

after art came literature, music and beer at the edinburgh castle. 

we ran into friend jamie at an art opening. ahhh city living. 

finally they came over and let the good times roll. 

riley spent all morning crawling around the living room looking for lynne and lila... 

riley wondered who that naked poopchick in the mirror was. 

riley's first rain storm. good thing we had a canvas bag and a knit hat to keep him dry. 

faith gives in to the baby-head-sniffing-urge. it's ok - no one can resist it for long. 

it doesn't get much better than hot pink sweat pants and a hug from uncle alef. 

lornie makes riley look like a three month old. 

riley is flabbergasted upon meeting karen patwa for the first time. it seems like they've been friends for AGES.
 

lynne and riley take a break from the wild giggles and act serious for once. 

rebecca and corrina hung out with riley on tuesday and taught him the fundamentals of lacrosse. it's a complicated sport but riley's got the hang of it more or less.
 

later in the night, rania modeled the dog hat - a good way to avoid getting one's hair pulled it turns out.
